Kindling Words will be warmly welcomed at Dalhousie Castle, set by a stream among rolling hills just outside Edinburgh. We will have comfortable 4-star rooms, but can work throughout the castle. We’ll have cocktails in the library, dinner in the dungeon, and fly falcons and eagle owls in the field.
Our customary KWW schedule will hold in Scotland, with morning yoga before breakfast in the Orangerie, followed by a workshop and a day filled with deeply focused creation. Our evenings will host white-space discussions, and walks under the spring skies. Saturday will be a “free” day to either accomplish even more work, or to go explore the city or countryside.
All three Kindling Words strands are welcome, Authors, Illustrators and Editors.
About the Pre-Ramble
Departing Edinburgh early on March 13, we will take a week to visit sixteen locations across England important to beloved children’s books, including Wind in the Willows, The Hobbit, Green Knowe, the BFG, Alice in Wonderland, The Borrowers, Peter Rabbit, and the Sea of Trolls. This tour is limited to 20 people. Participants do not have to attend the KW-Scotland week.
Because this is an adventure year, registration opens for Kindling Words Scotland in early June, and remains open until all slots are filled. A waiting list is generated when registration is closed.
