Cost for Kindling Words East

Final cost for KWE coming soon.

For reference, the cost (before room taxes) of KWE 2026 (including tuition, meals, retreat & hotel) is $1047. Depending on which room you choose, room taxes will vary slightly, but your final total cost should be about $1100.

Kindling Words is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.  We are careful to keep the costs low to just balance our expenses.

Scholarships

We will be offering a limited number of scholarships for tuition only and for tuition and hotel fees; there is an opportunity to indicate in the application whether you would like to be considered for a scholarship. 

Donations to our scholarship fund (kindlingwords.org/give) are always appreciated & tax-deductible. With your help, we can make our retreats more accessible.

Eligibility 1
If you are an author or illustrator you must have at least one book published or under contract that meets ALL of these criteria. If you are an editor you must currently work for a publishing house that meets ALL of these criteria, or if you are currently an editor whose prior work history matches these criteria, you are also eligible (and please check all five boxes below).
