Kindling Words is a gathering of published authors, illustrators, and editors in the field of children’s books.

Eligibility

To sign up for our email list, you must be working with a traditional children’s book publishing house. By traditional, we mean that your publisher:

  1. Pays their authors and illustrators an advance against royalties
  2. Publishes books in print format (not on demand or digital only)
  3. Has editorial, marketing and distributing processes in place
  4. Has at least one prior list in print
  5. Publishes multiple authors / illustrators each season

If you are an author or illustrator you must have at least one book published or under contract that meets ALL of these criteria. If you are an editor you must currently work for a publishing house that meets ALL of these criteria, or if you are currently an editor whose prior work history matches these criteria, you are also eligible.
