TINDERBOX FELLOWSHIP

In order to continue to be at the cutting edge of inclusion in our field, we are extending three full-ride scholarships (tuition, room and board) to an extraordinary person of color from each of our three strands: author, illustrator and editor. This person must be from an underrepresented minority (see definition below,) and be at the beginning of their career in children’s books.

We are inviting you to consider nominating an author, illustrator or editor that you could recommend for one of these awards. To make a nomination, please fill out the following form.

Underrepresented minority (URM) is someone whose racial or ethnic makeup is from one or more of the following:

  • African American / Black
  • Sub-Saharan African
  • Asian, including South Asian
  • Hispanic / Latino
  • Native American / Alaskan Native
  • Native Hawaiian / Other Pacific Islander
  • Middle-Eastern / Northern African

Tinderbox Fellowship Nomination

  • Recommendation

  • Name of person recommending
  • Choose based on how they make their primary income.
  • We consider the whole picture when assessing Tinderbox recipients. Please address the following in your recommendation: how new and promising is the candidate? How would the candidate contribute to the community spirit? How much would the candidate benefit from being at Kindling Words? How would the candidate's presence improve the Kindling Words culture? Would the fellowship enable the candidate to afford to come when otherwise they might not be able to?
  • This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
