Kindling Words West has found a splendid new home among the earth-tenders at Whidbey Island Institute. April 7-14, we will take the ferry off the coast of Seattle and settle in among the tall northwestern pines for a week that will nourish our bodies and our creative spirits.
Whidbey Island Institute has a mission to nurture people who are actively making the world a better place, and they are delighted to bring our group of children’s book creators into their midst. The rooms are rustic, the woods ancient, the architecture breathtaking, and the food is glorious.
We will keep our customary KWW schedule, with morning yoga before breakfast, followed by a workshop and a day filled with deeply focused creation. Our evenings will host white-space discussions, and walks in the wide pine woods among spring blossoms.
All three Kindling Words strands are welcome, Authors, Illustrators and Editors, and 2019 is an illustrator-led year. We will have warm-up exercises for everyone with engaging, playful (and non-threatening) art workshops daily led by Jennifer Mann, a long-time Kindling Words beloved alum.
