Cost for Kindling Words West

Whidbey Institute’s fees have increased significantly for 2024. Due to this increase, and in order to keep costs as low as possible for attendees, Kindling Words has reduced the cost of tuition to $200 and is running registration internally.

The cost breakdown for the week is as follows:
  • KWW tuition $200

    Kindling Words’ administrative costs

  • Single room or cabin $1,220.50

Housing, linens, heat, and bathroom for one person in a single-occupancy room

  • Shared room or cabin $815.50

Housing, linens, heat, and bathroom for one person in a double-occupancy room

  • Facilities fee ($25/day) $175

Use of all buildings and trails on campus

  • Meals $562.50

Local, hand-crafted breakfasts, lunches, and dinners

  • TOTAL COST for Single $2158
  • TOTAL COST for Shared $1753
Upon registering, all participants will pay a nonrefundable deposit of $722.

Once roommate pairings are complete and attendees’ preferences for single/double accommodations are confirmed, participants will have two options for payment:

Because Kindling Words has negotiated use of the entire Whidbey Institute facility for the duration, we cannot prorate fees for attendees who arrive late or depart early.
